Introduced to electronic music by my brother over a decade and a half ago, I purchased the entire “electronic music” inventory (three whole records!) of a local music shop, then played with some belt-driven numark decks for a few months before going wild on eBay and at the local music shop buying gear and records, and I began dabbling in production with Propellerheads Reason. My production efforts rewarded me with a 1st place finish in a remix contest.
I spent a year or so in residency at the now-defunct Asylum Nightclub in Nashville, TN before getting fed up with the local DJ culture, and began submitting sets to online stations. After meeting Dave Dresden (Gabriel & Dresden) at a Nashville show and getting his thoughts on the “digital revolution” I decided to stop spending $20 apiece on records and bought Ableton Live and a Macbook Pro, which I connect to a Pioneeer DJM-3000 mixer with an M-Audio FastTrack Pro (or FireWire 410.) My hardware controllers include a Korg microKontrol and an Evolution UC-33e.
I usually release one set a month, and my sets are consistently accepted and played on Digitally Imported Radio, and I’ve had guest mix spots on Four4 w/LRCN at AfterhoursDJs.org.
