DJMix Presents - Da SYk - Mar 26 2010
Progressive House [59:36] 192 mp3 DJMix welcomes my longtime Facebook friend and fellow Proton DJ: Da Syk Please rate him up and leave your comments!
Da Syk started his journey into electronic dance music in the early 90's in a lil town in southern India as just a guy listening to some tapes of some obscure German electronica. The sound captured his imagination.
His early music involved the whole gamut of the 60's and 70's classic rock, with the crazy psychedelic sounds. So it was only a progressive movement into electronica.
Ever since those early days, he has followed the trends in electronica. Influenced heavily by the sounds of Paul Van Dyk and Paul Oakenfold he has moved to the broad spectrum of house music after the revelation that came to him in the form of that massive Delta Heavy Tour by Sasha and Digweed. With every set Da Syk tries to create a complete musical experience that fills the senses and moves the listener into a different dimension. |

DJMix Presents - Harri Jaffa - Mar 26 2010
Techno [64:30] 192 mp3 Pleased to have Harri Jaffa on the show! Please rate him up and leave your comments!
"Fell in love with Psy-Trance in the mid nineties when I was too young to know better. Had a great time bouncing around fields and enjoying chemical enhanced sunrises :)
I've always been a sucker for the BIG EPIC anthem, the huge tunes that bring smiles to everyone on the dance floor, but I'm an even bigger sucker for those tough beats and squelchy sound that make people grimace as they stamp on the ground and wave on the next record.
Got into a more Techno and progressive sound around 5 years ago.
I hope you enjoy these tunes!"

DJMix Presents - Alex M - Jan 22 2010
Techno [60:20] 192 mp3 A DJMix.net favourite is back and in excellent form! Alex M. Originally from Mexico and currently residing in New York City, Mario Alejandro Martinez, also aka DJ Alex M has always had a deep passion for music and feels the need to share it because it brings people together. Many of his sets have made their way to DJMix.net's "top mixes" on various occasions and have also received radio airplay from Danceradio.gr, Stream-FM and now he brings us his second offering on Proton Radio. Alex was even given the opportunity to mix ProgCast 091 for Progressivehouse.com, and was also featured on DJ Korruptor's (Gareth Noyce) wildly popular RK2 podcast.
He is especially known for his genre-shifting and unorthodox mixing style; fusing progressive, tech-house, electro, minimal and breaks into his sets. While collaborating on a duo mix with DJ Highlife (James High) for his weekly show on Stream-FM.com known as Central Control he asked Alex M to take over the show for a few months while being deployed overseas. Since taking over the show, he has featured top DJs such as Anil Chawla, Dave Robertson and Chris Fortier. Alex will continue to play many venues and start producing tracks by early 2009. |

DJMix Presents - Pyra Draculea - Jan 22 2010
Electronica [60:00] 192 mp3 Please give a warm welcome for the show's first female dj and a local friend of mine: Pyra Draculea is a Vancouver-based [re-]mixing engineer, artist and DJ. She creates original industrial rock and noise compositions under the alias Maqlu, and is currently working on a triple EP debut project, Tales From the Black Heart, slated for release in 2010. Remixing credits, also under the Maqlu name, so far include Left Spine Down, Jakalope and iVardensphere. When remixing [and to a lesser extent when working on her own material], one of her biggest interests is creating dialogue within the music, be it between different vocal lines or even just call and response between instruments. She also likes to work organically as much as possible and let the different parts "talk" and dictate the flow of the work. Pyra is also the host of CiTR Radio's weekly industrial show, the Vampire's Ball, which airs from midnight to 4 am PST on Friday nights. More information on the Vampire's Ball can be found [along with podcast links and playlists] on the show's blog at The Vampire's Ball. Guests of the Vampire's Ball have included Nivek Ogre, Dave "Rave" Ogilvie, Phil Western and kAINE D3L4Y of Left Spine Down, among others. A recent graduate of the engineering program at Garth Richardson's Nimbus School of Recording Arts and current student in Nimbus' music production program, Pyra has recorded and mixed various up and coming Vancouver bands, including the Best Revenge, Emberline, and the Hope Slide. Mixing is her favorite aspect of engineering, but she also enjoys assisting on assorted sessions around town. Her favorite audio program is still ProTools, which she used to slice and dice this set together with, but she is also getting into Ableton and [gasp!] Traktor as well. Favorite audio toys include SSL boards, Distressors, Studer tape machines, LA2A compressors and assorted other things that would blast her credit card bill to Hell, and some day she longs to have an ARP synthesizer of her very own [plus a vintage Moog or 17]. When she's not making music, either her own or other peoples', or playing it on the radio, she's greedily seeking out new additions to her small but growing vinyl collection and can be found searching for Skinny Puppy and other old industrial bands' records at different shops around Vancouver. In addition to all of this, Pyra also now does promotional work for Synthetic Sounds, a growing industrial rock indie label based out of Vancouver. Despite persistent rumors to the contrary, she does occasionally find time to sleep too.
You can check out more of her work on her MySpace at MaqluMusic and you can keep tabs on all her assorted projects and nine lives via her Twitter feed at http://twitter.com/pyradraculea.

DJMix Presents - TimTom - Dec 25 2009
Tech House [64:30] 192 mp3 TimTom: "There are two things that I really adore in this life. The first by far are people - I love nothing more than to meet and connect with other humans :) A very close second is my life long love of music. So as you can imagine, put these 2 things together and there's nothing more perfect for me to do other than to be a DJ. I fell in love with clubbing after a random night out with some mates from work. It soon transformed from going out into a way of life with the core of it being the music that I so loved. Since I was a teenager I had been in bands and made music so the natural progression for me was to become a DJ. I always aim high with things but with this I was aiming for the top and had one goal only. This occurred one night after my world was set alight by my hero – the amazing Tony De Vit. In the space of 2 hours my burning desire was to play along side this amazing guy. From the first moment I heard him, he was my inspiration!!!! I played professionally for about 5 years in the crazy world of hardhouse, and although I never actually played with Tony, I did meet him several times and he knew about me as I played with most of his friends – Steve Thomas, Ian M, Malcolm Duffy, Pete Wardman, Ziad and of course my old friend Fergie. My buddies and fellow Dj's at the time also include Reidstar, Paul Glazby, Andy Farley, Lisa Lashes, Anne Savage, Alex P, Brandon Block, BK, Charlotte Birch, Tim Clewz and Little Miss Natale to mention but a few. I had to run away 5 years ago however as I couldn’t sustain that lifestyle anymore so I kind of threw the baby out with the bath water as they say. Now I return with a clear head and a much deeper appreciation for my first love – dance music."

DJMix Presents - Seth Dillan Gavin - Nov 27 2009
Electro House [59:49] 192 mp3 This is my first time hosting DJMix.net presents... on Protonradio and couldn't resist making it into a post-Burning Man special! .......................................... I had the pleasure of meeting Seth Dillan Gavin in person during the Burning Man 2009 fest. We hung out a lot and partied and played at the same Root Society domes! For the past 5 years, Seth has performed live many many times in front of thousands at Nevada's Burning Man festival. A great friend and a smoking DJ & Producer, I'm proud to have SDG as my first ever guest to appear on the show!
Seth grew up in New England and is currently living in the city of sin, Las Vegas. His mixes are his way of expressing how he's feeling at any given time, that usually leads to funky, seductive, dirty, soulful, deep and sexy house music. Music is his #1 passion and without it, Seth claims he'd wither away and die!
Crank this one UP!

DJMix Presents - Kev Obrien - November 2009
Deep House [61:53] 192 mp3 This is a special mix, for a few reasons. #1 - its a live recording from my recent tour of Florida. #2 - it's the final mix for me as host of the DJmix.net Presents radio show. This mix is deep, housey, sexy, sultry and gooey (if that's a good verb for music.) The setting was a plush upscale lounge on the gulf coast of Florida, and the women were dressed to impress. I hope you'll enjoy some of my favorite house cuts of recent times wrapped in this set, it wa sone of my best live sets in quite some time, and I am happy to provide it to the show, and all of you.
To all the DJs who participated in this show over the past year, thank you! James, best of luck with it! |
