Really, Mark J began quite early, interfacing with the Frisco Disco toy deck and microphone his mother bought for Christmas. Mark, now 35, DJs every week, makes chart returns, reviews tracks, works on various remix projects, has sung too and is the marketing guru to some of the best producers and singers on the planet.

Although his sessions/sets, typically, are not "factory sound"... deep down he loves to seam together punchy electro-house grooves and soft-padded sound-scapes, mixed masterfully on a whole range of kit/gear. Check out “DJ Mark J” on www.djmix.net for more.

This year Mark celebrates 4 years at Constantino in Sitges - with DJs Jordi Constantino & Javi Mimo. He has been honoured to play here, not only recently where he was worked with a 7 of the world's leading DJs in the last six months alone! But also at the beginning of his time here, where he had to really step it up a gear to compete at the level of these guys and girls in Sitges. It was only a short step until Pacha Sitges called… the first Pacha in the world.

A day involves dealing with, for example, A&R or liasing with artists at Blanco y Negro Music, Barcelona, briefing TV, Internet or press journalists. Normally he’s in the middle of various radio campaigns on behalf of clients’ compositions, or liaising with clubs and promoters.

Mark, as well as looking after some of the scene’s pioneers, is also passionate for new, evolving talent. His book for 2008 includes:

John is one of the first DJs Mark worked with when he arrived in Catalonia, including some released studio work with Mark J on vocals. John is one of the leading lights within the Sushi Productions Stable and has also signed to Pacha Recordings, where he recently remixed Shakira, no less! http://www.pachasitges.com

During the this time, Mark also played in clubs, parties and the illegal rave scene. He was also lucky to work on some tracks and material with Steve Miller (AFTERLIFE/ CAFÉ MAMBO). Mr J was also a DJ at Buzby’s in Tenerife’s notorious South resorts in the 90s.

Later, after graduation from the University of Central Lancashire’s department of Journalism with an honours degree in PR, he worked as a spin-doctor and PR consultant (IBM EMEA) in London, with one stint at the largest global PR company, WEBER SHANDWICK, as part of its Strategic Media Group… which is like Top Gun Flight School Colours for PR Executives.

Best Party Bit: "My mate, Eren, (he composed the now infamous 'You got the Love' by Candy Staton feat. The Source) kidnapped me one day (along with Jimmy K-Tel and Matt Brown) and ended up in Central England for a Sancho Panza VIP function at Global Gathering 2003, which sees over 55,000 people attend. As soon as we arrived, we drove straight into the police’s secret HQ in the middle of it… I should have asked for help then!”
